The number of rodent complaints to a city hotline in March increased by 80% to 2,906 from last year, when calls dipped as New York City went into lockdown and restaurants closed.Rats populations spike whenever they have access to the 3 basic needs: food, water and shelter . Rats pose a serious health threat to people because their waste and saliva can poison food and spread disease.
NYC has seen dramatic increases in its rat population, landing the big apple at #3 on the list of rattiest cities in America.Chicago and L.A. take the top positions at #1 and #2 respectively.
